Back from Himalayan beauty
We are back in Kathmandu after trekking for six days around Langtang located north from Kathmandu. We decided to go there by local bus to enjoy a real Nepali experience, and we really got an experience we will never forget. The way from Kathmandu to Dunche is by far the worst road experience we've ever had. Narrow & tiny roads making their way up the mountains where road maintainance is a project that will never happen. So there we where. 100 people on a bus that was not made for more than 50 people. The rain was poring down and stones kept falling down from the cliffs on our right hand side. On the left hand side there was a steep on at least 200 meters. To give you a glimt of how it was like yopu can see this video that describes the type of road that we were on:
After we reached Dunche we started our trekking experience the next day which would go on for 6 days. The trekking itself was pretty tough. We walked for about seven hours a day, but when we finally got to Kyangin Gompa we were stunned by the beautiful scenery. David decided to continue with our guide to climb one of the peaks at 4500m where the view was absolutly amazing. The Langtang area was a great trekking experience with incredible nature & nice people along the way. We stayed at several small guest houses where we had tasty nepali & tibetan traditional food.

Beautiful scenery

Children playing in their home village Kyangin Gompa on 4000m

Although we didn't hire any, we where amazed by the porters (sherpas)
which where half our size but carried double the weight that we did up
the 4000m. in flip-flops. (!!)
